Endocarp: definition and meaning

ENDOCARPUS

The endocarp is one of the portions into which a fruit is divided. It is precisely the innermost layer.
In cherries and peaches it is lignified and constitutes the hard wall of the stone, in oranges in apples it is the juicy part that we eat.
